September 12 is the day! I've been working for months, along with several other totally dedicated people, on the big "ta do" to raise awareness and money for the local START program. The Stoughton Area Resource Team is a local organization that is designed to be a safety net for people in crisis. It's connected with United Way, local religious organizations, food pantries, the job search office, financial advisors, St. Vinny's, Social Services, Rotary, Kiwanis and a whole slew of local businesses. The Hors d'oeuvres Theater event will feature a 1920's decor. Those attending are encouraged to wear period clothing (lots of flappers and straw boat hats), but it's the cloche hats, straight line dresses and bow ties that are easy to find. We'll be performing an old time drama, 'Mother Sweetbody's Reward.' The speak easy door (and pass word) is all that stands between you and some terrific beer from Capitol Brewery - and wine from Wollersheim Winery. There is also a very serious ticket raffle of NICE prizes that will be awarded through the evening. It’s a lot of work ... my studio is filled to the brim with 1920's hats on heads, feathers and flowers! If you'd like to go, or need more info, you can call 577-5650. It is tax deductible, too!
