Pat O'Neill's Macaroni & Cheese


8 ounces macaroni
2 cups milk
3 tablespoons butter or margarine
3 tablespoons flour
2 1/2 cups sharp cheddar cheese
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon pepper
1/2 cup bread crumbs


Cook pasta. In another saucepan melt butter, add flour, salt, pepper. Increase heat to medium, add milk and stir regularly until mixture thickens. Add 2 cups cheese and stir until cheese has melted. Combine with cooked pasta and place in greased baking dish. Sprinkle bread crumbs and 1/2 cup cheddar cheese on top. Bake at 350 for 30-40 minutes or until golden brown. Serves 4-6.
