A LIttle Bird Told Me

I am more of a morning person than a night owl.  I enjoy taking Truman for a walk when it’s still dark so that by the time we’re finished I can see the sun slowly start to make the sky pink.  I also love how still everything is in the morning.  It’s a good time to really notice the things around you.  Lately though, getting up before the crack of dawn to take the dog for a walk has become more of a chore than a pleasurable experience.  You don’t hear much bird music in the dead of winter, but just last week at around 6:00, I heard the sound of a Cardinal singing.  It instantly gave me the feeling of spring and I forgot all about the 10 below zero temperature I was out in.  I thought it was amazing how a single bird could set the mood for my day.  If a bird can be up at 6am and sing in 10 below temperatures, then so can I.  OK … I’m not actually SINGING but … a positive attitude about winter sure makes it easier to walk in.
