How Did We Vacation Without Smartphones?

We probably talked to our traveling companions more and used a standard camera to take "selfies", that's how!  But, it would be difficult to go back to the days of no smartphones again.  While my husband and I took a recent road trip to southern Minnesota, he was able to check business emails and return phone calls (he's self-employed, so he basically can't leave his job behind for a few days.)

We both took lots of pictures with our smart phones of the gorgeous views from the bluffs above Winona, Minnesota and La Crosse.  We used "OK Google" voice search to discover there was a new brewpub in downtown La Crosse, and the navigation app helped guide us there.  All from a device whose computer chip is probably much more advanced than what NASA used to send astronauts to the moon in 1969.  I've had my LG G3 smart phone for about five months, and I wonder why I waited so long to get rid of my "dumb" phone  😉
