I had no idea! My hat is off to you if you have successfully registered your kid or kids for school. At this point I think I have to go to two different places to hand stuff in. And I’m not even 100% sure what I should turn in at each place, so I’m just filling a paper bag of things they may need, from my son’s birth certificate to the little bunch of hair from his first haircut.
And then there’s the convenient and zippy online enrollment (or is it registration) I need to do. "Convenient" and "zippy" it is neither. There’s so many questions on there, worded in so many wonky ways, that by the end, I was second-guessing whether or not we speak Spanish in our household. Our Pediatrician, bless her heart, knows the drill and will just send us the vaccination report all signed and ready to take to the registration (or is it the enrollment?).
Now, I’m not in any way bashing the school system or teachers. I come from a long, proud line of teachers and appreciate everything those who are in the field of education do. I guess I’m just new to this whole school process and am hoping for at least one of two things: 1) I get used to the routine and it becomes super easy or 2) each parent gets a teacher to hold their hand, a glass of wine, and a big chocolate cake to celebrate with after they’ve correctly completed everything. My scale (and reality) is hoping for the first.
