Did you know the state of Iowa has its own “Great Lakes” region? I first heard of the Lake Okoboji area back in the ‘80s, when my sister Jean moved to northwest Iowa, but I had never had the opportunity to visit until this past weekend. WOW. If it weren’t for the six-hour drive to get there, I would head back in a heartbeat!
The Lake Okoboji area is breathtakingly beautiful (check the picture) and there’s lots of outdoor fun, shopping, and dining to enjoy. Thye vibe of the area is a cross between the Wisconsin Dells and Door County. Many people from Iowa, South Dakota, and Nebraska vacation there, and I can see why. If you’ve never been there, I highly encourage you to check it out next time you’re wanting to visit somewhere outside of Wisconsin. Click the Lake Okoboji link above to learn more.
