Kathryn’s Blog: Birthday Dinner

Written by on April 15, 2019

Let me say that once again my son, Gregg, has found another fantastic place to have a great meal. Italian food is my favorite so he and his gal, Tara, took me to Osteria Papavero to celebrate. It’s not very big and it is not at all formal. Everything was written on the black board but I could not pronounce anything if my life depended on it. My, oh my, oh my… it was very fine! We each had a different meal, which we all shared.  We had wild mushroom soup with grilled bread & duck/pork meatballs in a marinara sauce for appetizers. Gregg‘s pasta was octopus ink with clams, Tara had very large spinach pasta that was filled with cheese, and I had asparagus and ricotta cheese stuffed inside thin pasta, covered in a golden sauce that I would order again. For my birthday dessert, they brought out butterscotch pudding with a mound of real whipped cream dusted with cocoa powder, a lit candle and three spoons. Let me say, I never had butterscotch pudding that tasted like that before. The group next to us said they get it to go! The waitress was very knowledgeable and helped us with a smile to understand what we were actually ordering! I’d highly recommend it if you want to really treat yourself. The dessert menu alone was worth a trip there.
