I often go to Sjolinds (pronounced shoe-lins) when I want to treat myself. When I saw this Torte on its pedestal it was such a work of art I just had to share it! Potatoes, ham, cheese, spinach, eggs and caramelized onions make up these lovely layers. Also there are the Finnish Pies (three different fillings), ‘A Princess Cake’ with almond cream in the center, an Almond Tart, Lemon Blueberry Cheese cake, Chocolate Cheese Cake & Iced Lemon Raspberry cakes. That was just one day there! They make all their soups from scratch (always at least one vegan choice) and Swedish Meatballs in rich gravy served with warm Limpa bread and lingonberry jam. Did I mention the coffee was perfect? And if that was not enough, they make their own chocolate concoctions too! Sea-salt and caramel, omg! If you don’t do anything in Mt. Horeb but stop by, it’s worth the trip! Be sure to tell them I sent you!
