Terri's Birthday
For the better part of 30 years.....I have gone through the same process on my wife Terri's birthday.  I ask what she'd like....she says don't buy me anything. I end up following her directions.....and even though she doesn't say it....I sense disappointment.  Not this time. I am going to follow my instincts and do something really nice. Don't know what yet, but it'll be a birthday for her to remember. I know how attached she is to her collection of Smart Wool socks, but do socks really say....festive birthday celebration?  I think not.

We've reached that point in the winter where we're looking for interesting things to do....that don't include going outside much.  We've started a puzzle. It was fun for the first couple of sessions of putting it together......but it's a seascape....and when i look at it now....all I see is blue water. What the heck!  Can't wait to get to the whale head so there will be some point of reference. Whose idea was a puzzle anyway?

What a pain
Man, I took a spill on the ice a couple of weeks ago, and I can still barely use my left arm. What a pain....literally! Used to be when I took a header, I would bounce back up and go about my business. Not this time. There was no bouncing, it was more of a splat. Be careful!

My broadcast partner Pat O'Neill celebrated a birthday. The old boy is getting up there I'll tell you. Joking of course. Just think of it....this poor guy has been forced to spend almost every morning with me.....nearly half his adult life. Maybe a sympathy card would be more appropriate than a birthday card given that fact. Happy Birthday Pat!

My wife Terri got tickets to Saturday's women's hockey game. That should be cool. The games this weekend against Minnesota Duluth are sold out. This is the third and fourth sellout for the women. Congrats!

Dogsitting Derby
Because of my daughter Lizzy's schedule, Terri and I have become the designated dog sitters for her cuter than cute yorkie mix Derby.  We absolutely look forward to Friday morning. That's when Derby gets dropped off, not to be picked up till Sunday evening. Derby is not only our fav dog outside our poodle buddy Ziggy, but she's also Ziggy's best friend. Despite their size difference (Ziggy is 65 pounds, Derby tips the scale at about five and a half or six pounds) they are playmates.  It is really cool the way they get along with each other. We took the dogs to Picnic Point for a little stroll.  While we were there, we ran into this guy, who had two huge St. Bernards on the end of his leash.  Derby went nuts!  Barking and carrying on. These were huge animals. One was 165 pounds....and the one named Ichabod....was 175 pounds!  There was Derby....literally nose to toe with these big beautiful dogs. To my surprise, they were gentle giants, and thought Derby was a great curiosity.  Better that than a snack. Although she wouldn't even have been a good treat. Hilarious. Love my doggie friends.
