Well, I guess I wasn't the only turkey outside running today. Look who joined me! Aren't they cute?
You never know what you'll find in the UW Arboretum, what fun. Watch out for the snapping turtles, though...they do NOT want to play.
If you love to run, bike, walk or, well, laugh at those of us who do, then check out this site.
You can find the Wingra through the Arboretum route and loads of others around town.

We have three of the coolest rescue cats, Riff, Ethel Mertz and Harpo. If you have equally funny, odd or just bizarre cat/dog photos do share. I thought these were a hoot.
Now, the first photos are of Harpo.
Harpo sleeping in the sink basin and then stretched out in odd shapes across the bed or smashed into pillows.
Then photos of the baby, Ethel. Here she is sleeping next to Jacki, and then in another photo she's hanging out with Riff. They adore each other.
The orange cat is Riff. Riff is 21 years old this week. He is a bit ratty and sort of grumpy now, but still loves to snuggle. Purrrrrfect!

I remember my Aunt Joan telling me about meeting Presidential hopeful Richard Nixon. He was campaigning at Blackhawk Country Club in Shorewood. She had a Kennedy button on, but still wanted to meet Nixon. He shook her hand and then noticed the button. Instead of getting mad, she said he smiled.
Well, last week, my daughters and I got to meet the President. He shook hands with both Joelle and Jacki and even talked to them! It was such a thrill. I have to admit standing in line, packed in like a sardine, got a little old. But, I know as a mom, my kids will NEVER forget this. The picture below conveys the mood; it's of my daughters, along with a student of mine from Edgewood.

Hi. Maybe you remember that you and I use to hang out every afternoon through Magic 98.
Yep, for about...gulp...a couple decades, you and I were quite the BFFs. Lanette, my former nanny (I know, how funny is that?) wonderfully came into my Magic slot and made her own mark. Now, she has the cutest little pumpkin in the world. Well, I am giving birth to something myself and I thought I might as well finally tell you. Around seven years ago, I decided to head back to school. It has been quite a laborious process but now I am in the final stages of getting my PhD. How cool is that? So, over the next few months, while I finish writing my dissertation, my blog will probably be...lacking. Not that it has won any awards, but if you have been reading my blog, and you are not my mom, then please forgive me if I only send a line or two.
If you ever thought about going back to school, it isn't the easiest thing to be in your 40s with a bunch of brainy 'kids' in their late 20s, but I will tell you the intellectual rigor and discourse is out of this world. I have loved it! Now, you may remember that I am pretty much crazy about cinema, particularly the old stuff. So, probably not surprising that my dissertation has to do with American film history, specifically the Western. Here are some pics from my text, can you guess the actor(s) and the film?
