1920's START Fundraiser
September 12 is the day!  I've been working for months, along with several other totally dedicated people, on the big "ta do" to raise awareness and money for the local START program.  The Stoughton Area Resource Team is a local organization that is designed to be a safety net for people in crisis.  It's connected with United Way, local religious organizations, food pantries, the job search office, financial advisors, St. Vinny's, Social Services, Rotary, Kiwanis and a whole slew of local businesses.  The Hors d'oeuvres Theater event will feature a 1920's decor.  Those attending are encouraged to wear period clothing (lots of flappers and straw boat hats), but it's the cloche hats, straight line dresses and bow ties that are easy to find.  We'll be performing an old time drama,  'Mother Sweetbody's Reward.'  The speak easy door (and pass word) is all that stands between you and some terrific beer from Capitol Brewery - and wine from Wollersheim Winery.  There is also a very serious ticket raffle of NICE prizes that will be awarded through the evening.  It’s a lot of work ... my studio is filled to the brim with 1920's hats on heads, feathers and flowers! If you'd like to go, or need more info, you can call 577-5650.  It is tax deductible, too!

Home Savings Surprise in Stoughton

I've been banking at Home Savings Bank here in Stoughton for 24 years and this was the first time I'd ever seen this happen!  It was a very exciting day for Joan, Katelyn and Sandi.  They thought it was a bomb going off, but it was really a new, very tired, young driver who put his foot on the gas – thinking he was going in reverse, but was actually in gear to go forward - right into the bank window!  Luckily, no one was hurt.  However, the day I was there, there was just a huge hole in the wall which I found hilarious. It just invited so many wise cracks. I had a field day with workers and patrons alike. How many banks offer such great entertainment?  I'm with these guys for life!

Join Me at the Art Fair
I can hardly believe the Agora Art Fair is this Saturday!  I've got my paintings and book marks ready to show. I just hope the weather stays as nice as it has the past years.  If you have never gone, please try to make it this year!  Having the beer garden is a big boost.  Something really nice about a 'cold one' on a sunny Saturday listening to live music.  All the artists are of a high caliber, there are all kinds of food and the place for the kids to make real art is something to write home about.  I love that the event and parking is totally free.  That area of Fitchburg is just beautifully designed for showing off art in nature!  If you can, stop by the 'Diakonos Design' booth and say “hi.”  I'll be there all day. It's always on the corner where you turn for food and ice cream!

Agora Art Fair
This is a custom painting I did for a lovely couple who had bought a condo up in the Dells. They had some very vibrant fabric they wanted to match on a 'built in' dining room seat.  I will have it's 'brother' painting at the Agora Art Fair in Fitchburg on August 17.  I'll also have other paintings, book marks and jewelry at the Diakonos Design booth.  I think it's the best art show in the area with not only excellent artists, but great bands, all kinds of food, Capitol Brewery Beer Garden, ice cream, and a "kids-make-art place" all in the most people-friendly, scenic area.  It's a one day event that is celebrating its fifth anniversary. Please stop by, it'd be fun to see you there!
