My birthday is coming on Palm Sunday, which is wild because I was actually born on Palm Sunday. My mother told me the forsythia bushes were in bloom and she thought about naming me that but she didn't want me to have 'Sissy' for a nickname. Then because it's April 1st it might be nice to call me April.  But in the end, it was because of the soap opera she was hooked on. There was 'bad Debra', and 'good Kathryn.' I love my name and I thank her for letting me have it. One of my grandmothers was Kathryn, too, but it was from the TV character I really got it.  Apple doesn't fall far from the tree, I guess. I named my son after Gregory Peck. I was not watching soaps but it was from the movie "To Kill A Mockingbird" that I was dazzled by him!

I know that material things are not really supposed to be that important in the big scheme of life...that is until it's something you have gained a fond attachment to.  This has happened to me in the form of my gloves. The are black, soft, perfectly fitting, leather gloves with the most divine braiding trim with a black on black jacquard design just on the back of the wrist. I see them as my most wonderful 'cowboy' gloves in that they are tough and warm but elegant and flexible. They are made by Wilson's Leather. And I lost one.  What's a glove?  I looked EVERYWHERE and it is just gone. Sniff sniff. On the last, big, sloshy snow storm

I was parked in front of my apartment transporting new art work into the back of my car and actually stepped on a lump of soggy black leather.  No, it was not my glove, but someone else's. It was completely saturated, I tossed it on the floor of the car. After a few days it dried out. I tried it on and it fit perfectly.  What amazed me was I had lost my right hand glove and this was a right hand glove. No, it was not even a fraction as lovely as the one I lost (I'm still searching on line to find another pair like it) but I discovered that whoever owned it before wore really nice perfume. Even all that soaking, it's still lovely.  I'd gladly trade it back for the one I lost, but this one will do.
