We are upon the holiday season and I have always been so proud of how Magic 98 continues to do the Holiday Wish program.  So many Magic 98 listeners have chipped in with change, dollars and checks to help other families out.  It is really quite something.  When this photo went viral this past week it reminded me of the beauty and kindness of giving.  Here a NYC police officer buys a man down on his luck a pair of thermal boots and comfy socks.   Reminded me of a quote from Aesop's Fables:  "No act of kindness, however small, is ever wasted."

My name is Juli and I have pie crust issues.

These pies are not of my making.   But, if this was an actual scenario, I would jump on these pies, eating the pie crust first.  Yep.  You heard me correctly.  I eat only the pie crust.  My family thinks this is not only weird but they get sort of mad at me.  I mean, now that I am older, I certainly don’t do this to the entire pie, but…it did get to the point where I was banned from the table until everyone was ready to eat.  My mom finally figured it out a few years back and now bakes me just the crust with cinnamon and sugar every Thanksgiving.
The filling is okay but…sigh…the crust.  Now the decision, pumpkin, cherry or apple?  If you actually get to decide between these three then call me immediately because I am coming over!

Hopefully you get at least one piece of pie this holiday season, and yes it is okay to lick the pie pan.  And yes it is OKAY to eat just the crust.

Is there anything better than laughing so hard it hurts?

My friend Annie threw a 50th birthday party this past summer and my stomach hurt
for days after, we all laughed so hard.  Annie and I met at Randall Elementary in 1970.
I am laughing with her sister Linda.

And then another old pal, Caroline.   Old friends are such gifts.

I felt almost this good when I handed in my dissertation this week.  Cool, huh?  The title (drum-roll) "Projecting Nature:  Eco-criticism and the post WWII Hollywood Western."

Here are other pics from the party, including a photo of the band Od Tapo Imi.  The same steel drum band that played at John's and my wedding, gulp...14 years ago.

Make someone smile or laugh everyday, it is the gift of the gods!!!!
