. . . when I visited Decorah, Iowa, as part of a "girls weekend" with some relatives. Part of our weekend plans included a quick drive north of Decorah to visit the Laura Ingalls Wilder Home and Museum in Burr Oak. So many memories of reading her books came flooding back. I was fascinated by Laura Ingalls Wilder when I was a young girl. I read, and often re-read, all of her books, and I placed myself in her shoes to get a good idea of how difficult life was back in her day.
My interest in her books predated the premiere of the TV show Little House on The Prairie by only a few months. I used to love to watch the show and exclaim "THAT didn't happen in the book!" or "They skipped over THAT fact from the book!"
If you also are interested in Laura Ingalls Wilder, next time you're in the Decorah area, it's worth the drive north to see the museum. You'll find yourself saying "Ma" and "Pa" for the rest of the day ;-)
