The Christmas Rush

Written by on December 23, 2015

Yeah, so the holidays. I was just looking at the binder I use at work to keep everything organized…it’s still on October. These last two months have been a blur. Between Holiday Wish, a 4th birthday party, Christmas to do lists and unwelcomed visits from the stomach flu and croup…it’s been a case of just putting one foot in front of the other and trusting there’s stable ground on which to rest some weary bones. Now with a four-year-old and a one-year-old, Christmas is taking on a completely different twist…this Santa thing is in full effect. It’s mostly fun…a little heavy trying to make sure the magic of Christmas lives on for another year…but yes, mostly fun.

I REFUSE to do an Elf on the Shelf.  They’re creepy.  There, I said it.  (Yeah, I know…talk to me in a couple years, Lanette) But for now…our house is Elf on a Shelf-less.

Christmas Eve will be spent at my parents’ house. We’ll eat our traditional tenderloin which I CANNOT wait for. Four years ago I had a two-week-old and I was so determined to eat my meal. It was far past cold, but I ate every bite…even if it took me three hours. This year, I plan on savoring it AND all the side dishes while shamelessly giving my kids junk food and possibly their iPads so I can eat it all in one sitting. Christmas Day will be spent at our house.  We’re doing a five-course meal with spaghetti, meatballs, and sausage for the main dish. It will be fantastic.

I hope your Christmas is full of everything that makes your heart happy. Bless all of those souls who have crossed over since last Christmas and those we miss every year extra specially this time of year. Merry Christmas.
