It’s hard to stay healthy when you’re so busy. I asked Tina Krueger who just lost 40 pounds how she did it.

I joined Weight Watchers at work and have great support from friends and family. I changed how and what I eat...veggies and fruit at every meal and I don’t eat as much ‘garbage’ as I used to. If I go out, I cut the food in half and put part of it in a doggie bag right away so I’m not even tempted. I walk my dogs every morning and with the summer nights, in the evening too sometimes. I’ve lost 40 pounds since Valentine’s Day and feel great!

Five Surprising Foods that Boost Immunity!
It's that time of year that everyone around your office, in your home and at your kid's school is walking around with at least a little sniffle. Allergies can do that to you, but it's also the change of season that can put your body into 'out of whack' mode. How do you fight the bug? With food of course!
1) Yogurt - Although more research is needed, the probiotics in yogurt can help reduce the severity of colds and the flu. Opt for the yogurt that has live and active probiotics to make sure you're reaping the benefits of these miracle-workers.
2) Black or Green Tea - Both have shown to defend your body against a cold or the flu. A Harvard study showed that after drinking tea, your body has elevated levels of a compound that can ward off infections and viruses.
3) Garlic - Assuming you don't have a hot date in the next couple days, garlic is a good thing to keep away a cold, too. There's a sulfur-containing compound in garlic that acts as an antibacterial agent. The best way to eat garlic is raw or freshly processed.
4) Orange-Fleshed Veggies - Perfect for this time of year, pumpkins, sweet potatoes, squash and any other orange veggies are high in beta carotene which your body uses to make Vitamin A. That's the vitamin that keeps our skin healthy which is your first line of defense against any bug.
5) Oysters - Now what on earth could oysters offer to ward off a cold? Zinc...which is important in the development of white blood cells, which is key for a strong immune system. Good news...if you're not one to open up and say, 'aaahhhh' to a slippery, slimy oyster, beef and chicken are good sources, too.
As always...lots of water and washing your hands a lot are the basics of keeping healthy this time of year, as well. It's crazy how many times we actually touch our faces...whether you rub your eyes or bite your nail, any bacteria on your hands gets right into your system and just like that...you've got a cold. And that pen-chewing...don't even get me started! Here's to staying healthy!!
Fitness Tip from Pinnacle
Some is better than None!
In college, one of my roommates and I had the same major so we had an almost identical class schedule. If the clock was ticking and I wasn’t going to make it on time...I kept on chugging along and got there when I could. But for my roommate it was all or nothing...if she didn’t get there on time, she wasn’t going. Lots of days it’s just like that for working out...you had an early meeting so didn’t make it to the gym or your kid’s school play made it so you couldn’t do the full 45 minute run you were hoping to get in. But some is still better than none and there are lots of ways to creatively fit in some sort of a workout.
