Jillene’s Blog: So Long Lady-Stache
Written by Jillene on January 15, 2020
You may have heard me talking about how I’ve been doing Laser Hair Removal Treatments at Madison Skin Specialists… well, my treatments are complete and I wanted to tell you how happy I am with the results!
This is something I’ve always wanted to do for myself because ever since I can remember, I’ve been self-conscious about the hair on my upper lip (or as I so lovingly call it, my “lady-stache”), chin, and neck. I’m not talking just a few black hairs here and there… I’m talking straight up stubble on my chin and neck. I’ve spent way too much energy agonizing over this, and more money than I’d ever care to know on threading and waxing my lady-stache, not to mention the time I’ve taken to go do it every other week. Now, that way of life is behind me and I’m moving forward with feeling much more feminine than I’ve ever felt!
I want to answer a couple of the questions I get asked the most about this experience: does it hurt? How much does it cost? and, how long does it last? One of the cool things about Madison Skin Specialists is they are super transparent with their prices – so much, that they list them on their website, which is not something that every place that offers Laser Hair Removal & other services like theirs does. You can check out their website here, and when you click on “cosmetic services” or “laser treatments,” you’ll find prices for these services! As far as the pain goes… it’s honestly not any worse than what I put myself through when getting it threaded for all those years. Have you ever had your chin threaded? It’s not pleasant. I did it one time, and then stuck to only doing my upper lip because that’s all the discomfort I can handle. The laser feels like a ‘hot pin-prick.’ It only lasts a half-second for each pulse. The sessions themselves take about 10-15 minutes after the first initial treatment, but a part of that time is spent on cooling the area that you’re treating. At Madison Skin Specialists, their laser is equipped with a cooling mechanism that really helps with the pain by “numbing” the area you’re treating… so for me, to answer the question about pain – it really wasn’t that bad. I’d take it over threading any day! How long does it last? One thing I learned through this whole process is that there’s no such thing as permanent hair removal, no matter where you go. Now that my initial treatments are done, I’ll go in for a maintenance treatment each year or as needed.
Below are some before and after pictures… so you know, they do free consultations at Madison Skin Specialists if you want to find out more about Laser Hair Removal or any of the services they offer. If I can answer any more of your questions about my experience, please email me at Jillene@magic98.com or find me on Facebook. I’d love to chat more!
