It’s official… I am a goofy cat lady! It’s been a little over a week since I brought my fur baby home and at times I ask, ‘what did I get myself into?’ Those times are usually at 3AM when Kitty is pawing my face and telling my it’s time to play…
Funny story… when I got Kitten, I thought he was a she. When I brought him into the clinic a few days after having him home, the vet said they’re 95% sure she is a he. Come to find out after sharing that on my Facebook page, that mistake is more common than you’d think and has happened to a lot of my friends! I had been calling Kitty, “Harriet,” and I still do sometimes… after all, a name doesn’t have to be assigned to a gender. I like the name “Harry” too… and as you can see from the pictures below, both names fit him. Can you see the white lightning bolt patch on his forehead? It’s just like Harry Potter‘s.
So far, Harry hasn’t destroyed anything except my sleep schedule… and hooray… he taught himself to use the litter box in just a few days! Hallelujah!!
It’s been a little over a year since I’ve had a pet in my home after my partner and I went our separate ways… and having an animal back in the house has been such a joy already. I am a dog person through and through, but my former partner’s cat showed me how rad little lions can be and changed the game when it comes to cats. I have lots of memories to make now with Harry — including, going for walks and bike rides in his new Kitty Backpack… we’re having so much fun playing laser tag and I love watching him lose his mind over a paper bag. I’ve always been an animal person and not having a pet over the last year+ has left an ache in my heart that is finally filled… by this one pound little monster, Harry/Harriet.
