Kathryn’s Blog: Flower Box Masterpieces

Written by on June 23, 2020

How is it that Summer time flies by so fast? That Wisconsin expression, “knee high by the Fourth of July” is true. The corn stocks are rocketing out of the ground. When I planted these flower colors I was thinking of the Norwegian Flag because I live above Nordic Nook, which is a totally Norwegian Import store. Red, blue and white is their flag, but it so happens to be the American Flag too. So, now the front flower boxes are especially appropriate. It takes four gallons of water every other day to keep them this lush. Working as a florist taught me one thing above all things with gardens: flowers are water dressed up in every color, shape, size and fragrance. I’ve also learned that flowers not only change the mood of a room, they actually change the ions in the air. Monet is quoted, “my garden is my most beautiful masterpiece.” I won’t call the flower boxes a masterpiece, but a good head start towards one.
